Leave Ingenio Square and drop down to the river bed. So far so good. Walk north along it until you reach the reservoir built by the moors.

Walk another three hundred metres and where the helpful sign on the right…

I never saw a sign or another path other than just to carry on walking up-river. I did that until I couldn’t go any further. I didn’t get the sweeping views of the valley I was promised, but it’s a very beautiful place.

I had a better day than this guy though, I wonder what became of him?

Walking back I saw just how far down I’d come from town to reach the river bed. It was only the extremely large dog that was following me at a pretty precise 10 yards all the way up that kept me going. Not too fast, not too slow, don’t look it in the eye.
It was a really beautiful walk with not many people around apart from a couple that were randomly sunbathing in what was the river. It’s interesting: up-river it just sort of meanders around the place, not very deep anywhere and easy to cross when you need to, but just outside the town it is managed into a concrete channel that leads to the old reservoir from where it is distributed for agriculture. It never reaches the sea.
